Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Extended Life Coolant - Change".
Drain the hydraulic tank into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the capacity of the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the proper procedure.

Disconnect cap assembly (1). Disconnect hoses (2). Disconnect hose assembly (3) .

Loosen clamp (6) and disconnect hose (7) .

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to cooling system package (8). The weight of cooling system package (8) is approximately 369 kg (814 lb).

Remove bolts (9). Disconnect hose assemblies (10) .

Disconnect hose (11). Remove bolt (12) .

Remove bolts (13). Repeat Step 9 for the other side of the machine.
Remove the cooling system package. Place the cooling package in a horizontal position on appropriate cribbing.

Remove tank (14) .

Attach Tooling (C) to core assemblies (16). Remove bolts (17). Use Tooling (B), Tooling (C), and a suitable lifting device to remove core assemblies (16). The weight of core assemblies (16) is approximately 116 kg (255 lb).

Remove plate assemblies (18) from cooling assembly (16) .

Separate oil cooler assembly (21) from radiator assembly (19). Separate aftercooler assembly (20) from radiator assembly (19) .
