4. Slide the power take-off drive into position, and remove the eyebolt. Install all but two of the power take-off housing mounting bolts.5. Remove the two guide pins, and install the two remaining mounting bolts. 6. Position the driveshaft, and install mounting bolts. Tighten bolts (2) to 110 10 lb. ft. (15,2 1,4 mkg).7. Install the dash support brace (3).8. Attach a hoist and position the dash on the support brace. Install dash mounting bolts.9. Connect the governor control linkage to dash.10. Position the solenoids on dash, and install the mounting bolts and nuts.11. Install the two wiring clamp mounting bolts in rear of dash.12. Install support (4) and floor grating (5).13. Install the hood support brace and two hood sections.concluding step: a) install torque converterDisassemble Power Take-Off Drive
preparatory step: a) remove power take-off drive 1. Remove the oil drain lines (1). 2. Remove the bearing cage-to-housing mounting bolts (2). Using two of the mounting bolts as forcing screws, separate the bearing cage (4) from housing. Remove the output gear and cage assembly, and shims. Keep the shims (3) identified for use during assembly.3. Disassemble the output gear and cage assembly as follows: a) Remove the yoke assembly retaining bolts (9), lock, and O-ring seal. b) Remove the yoke assembly (8).c) Remove the bearing cage (4).d) Remove the O-ring seal and lip-type seal from the bearing cage. Remove the bearing cup from bearing cage. e) Using tool setup (A), remove the bearing cones from output gear.4. Remove bearing cup (6) from power take-off housing.5. Remove the oil tube assemblies.6. Remove the idler gear shaft retaining bolts (7) and locks.7. Disconnect the oil line and remove idler gear shaft (5) and shims. Keep shims for use during assembly of power take-off drive. 8. Remove the idler gear (10) from housing and remove the two bearing cones and the spacer between the cones, from the gear.9. Spot weld a piece of steel plate, 1/4 in. (6 mm) thick, across the inside diameter of one of the bearing cups (11). Drive the bearing cup out of the idler gear.
Both bearing cups can not be pressed out the same side of idler gear (10) due to inner retaining ring.
10. Drive the remaining bearing cup out the other side of idler gear. Remove the spacer and retaining ring from gear.11. Attach a hoist and turn the power take-off housing over with input side up.12. Remove the input gear bearing cage retaining bolts and locks.13. Using two of the retaining bolts as forcing screws, separate the bearing cage from housing. 14. Remove the input gear bearing cage (12) and shims. Keep the shims (13) identified for use during assembly of power take-off drive.15. Remove the bearing cup (14) from input gear bearing cage. 16. Remove the input gear (15). 17. Using tool setup (B), remove the bearing cones from input gear.18. Attach a hoist and turn housing over with out-put side up. Remove the bearing cup (16) from power take-off housing.Assemble Power
