4. Remove water elbow (1), regulator, and hose.5. Disconnect line (5) for water temperature.6. Remove water line (4) between air compressor and cylinder head.7. Remove lines (2) and (3) for the water pump.8. Remove air inlet line for air compressor. 9. Remove tube (10) for breather.10. Remove fuel injection lines (8) and put covers on openings.11. Remove supply line (7) for turbocharger.12. Disconnect return line (9) from turbocharger.13. Loosen hose clamps (6) and slide hose toward air cleaner. 14. Remove all cylinder head bolts (11) except five. Five bolts must be removed with head.
TYPICAL EXAMPLE15. Remove the cylinder head (12). Weight is 200 lb. (91 kg).16. Remove the exhaust manifold and turbocharger as a unit from the cylinder head.Install Cylinder Head
1. Install exhaust manifold and turbocharger as a unit on the cylinder head.2. Install a new, dry cylinder head gasket. 3. Put cylinder head (1) in position with a hoist. Install the push rods. Put the rocker shaft in position on the cylinder head. Be sure dowels are in alignment on the rocker shaft. 4. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of cylinder head and rocker shaft bolts. Install the bolts and washers, and tighten bolts in the following sequence: 1. Tighten all bolts in number sequence to a torque of 115 lb.ft. (155 N m).2. Tighten all bolts in number sequence to a torque of 185 13 lb.ft. (250 17 N m) again.3. Tighten all bolts in number sequence (hand turn only) to a torque of 185 13 lb.ft. (250 17 N m).4. Tighten all bolts in letter sequence to a torque of 22 lb.ft. (28 N m).5. Tighten all bolts in letter sequence to a torque of 32 5 lb.ft. (43 7 N m).6. Tighten all bolts (hand turn only) in letter sequence to a torque of 32 5 lb.ft. (43 7 N m) again.5. Make adjustments to the intake valve. Clearance is .015 in. (0.38 mm) and the exhaust valve clearance is .025 in. (0.64 mm).6. Remove the covers from the fuel openings. Install fuel injection lines. Tighten nuts for fuel injection lines to a torque of 30 5 lb.ft. (40 7 N m).7. Install supply line and connect return line to turbocharger.8. Install tube for breather. 9. Install lines (2) and (4) for water pump.10. Install water line and air line for air compressor.11. Connect line (3) for water temperature.12. Install air pipe between head and air cleaner.13. Put hose in position between air cleaner and turbocharger and tighten clamps.14. Install regulator, water elbow and base.15. Connect glow plug wires.end by:a) install valve coverb) install hood
