Removal Procedure
Start by:a. Connect the steering frame lock.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hot oil spray.Make sure all attachments have been lowered, oil is cool and the pressure has been released from the hydraulic system before removing any components or lines.Be sure there is no pressure in the tubing before it is disconnected from the fitting.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and, all tubes to prevent fluid loss and to prevent contaminants from entering the system.Note: The modulating valve for the torque converter lockup clutch is mounted on the torque converter below the steering pump.

Open access door (1).

Disconnect harness assembly (4) and tube assembly (3).
Remove bolts (5) and modulating valve (2).

Remove seal (6) from modulating valve (2).Installation Procedure
Install modulating valve (2) in the reverse order of removal.
