HOUSING GP-TORQUE CONVERTER 2390334 - Caterpillar

start by:a) remove input clutch
Slowly remove bolts because plate is in under spring pressure.
1. Bend tabs on locks and remove bolts (1) and plate (2) from clutch assembly. Remove O-ring seal from piston. 2. Remove clutch bolts (4) and springs (3) from manifold. 3. Install two 3/8"-16 NC forged eyebolts in piston and remove piston and manifold as a unit. 4. Remove hub (5) from the piston and manifold assembly. 5. Remove manifold (6) from piston (7). Remove seal ring (8) from manifold. 6. Remove O-ring seal (9) from hub (5). 7. Remove four disc assemblies (10) and three plates (11) from clutch hub. 8. Remove plate (12) from hub. 9. Remove bearing (13) from hub. Remove bolts (14) and hub (15) from gear. 10. Remove bearing assembly (16) from gear (17). 11. Remove retaining ring (18) from bearing with tool (A).Assemble Input Clutch
1. Install retaining ring (1) on bearing (2). Install bearing assembly in gear (3). 2. Put hub (4) in position on gear and install bolts. Tighten bolts to a torque of 235 20 N m (174 15 lb.ft.). 3. Install bearing (5) in hub.4. Put plate (6) in position in hub. 5. Install O-ring seal (8) on hub. Put hub (7) in position on plate (6). 6. Install four disc assemblies (9) and three plates (10) in position on the hub and plate. Make an alignment of the serrations (teeth) on the four disc assemblies. 7. Put piston (11) in position on clutch disc and plate assemblies. 8. Install seal ring (12) on manifold. 9. Put lubricant on seal ring and in the bore of piston. Install manifold (13) in piston (11). Install bolts and tighten to a torque of 55 7 N m (41 5 lb.ft.). 10. Put spring assemblies (14) in position in manifold. 11. Put cover (15) in position and install three 3B1915 Bolts at locations the same distance apart around cover. Tighten the three bolts to put the springs in compression.12. Install three locks and six bolts and tighten in position. Remove the three 3B1915 Bolts. Install the remainder of the locks and bolts and bend the tabs on locks.
