1. Put pressure on top of the fan belt tightener with a pry bar. With pressure on the fan belt tightener, remove the three belts (2).2. Remove pins (3) and cotter pins, then remove spring (1).3. Remove bolt (4), the washer and the plate. Remove the fan belt tightener from the fan drive bracket.Install Fan Belt Tightener
1. Put fan belt tightener (1) in position on the fan drive bracket and install the bolt, washer and plate to hold it.2. Use a pry bar to put pressure on top of the fan belt tightener, then install the three belts.3. Put clean grease in the fan belt tightener.Disassemble Fan Belt Tightener
START BY:a) remove fan belt tightener 1. Remove cover (1). 2. Remove bolt (2) and washer (3). 3. If necessary use tooling (A) to remove pulley (5) from arm assembly (4). 4. Remove bearing (9) and spacer (8) from pulley (5).5. Remove seal (6) and bearing (7) from pulley (5). 6. Remove the dowel that holds shaft (10) in position on arm assembly (4). The dowel can only be removed from the larger diameter hole as shown. 7. Use a press and remove the shaft from arm assembly (4) as shown.Assemble Fan Belt Tightener
1. Put shaft (2) in position in arm assembly (1).2. Make sure the groove in shaft (2) is in alignment with the dowel hole in arm assembly (1). Use a press and install the shaft in the arm assembly. 3. Install dowel (3) to hold the shaft in position in arm assembly (1) as shown. 4. If necessary make a replacement of ring (4) in pulley (5). 5. Install inner bearing (6) in pulley (5). 6. Use tool group (A) and install the seal in pulley (5) with the lip of the seal toward the outside of the rear face of the pulley as shown. 7. Install pulley (5) on arm assembly (1).8. Install the spacer and outer bearing (7). 9. Install the washer and bolt (8) to hold the bearings in position. 10. Install cover (9) on pulley (5).END BY:a) install fan belt tightener
