The procedure for repairing cracks that may occur in the rear track roller frame of the D9N and D9R has been changed. Solution:
A more effective method to repair D9 rear track roller frame tube weld cracking has been developed. A new Special Instruction repair procedure and supporting video are being prepared for distribution. Estimated availability of the new procedure is March 17, 2000. If a failure is reported before March 17th, engineering recommends that a temporary weld repair be made to permit the frame to be repaired using the new procedure. Make the temporary repair using established weld procedures in lieu of the installation of the 135-6136 and 139-7717 reinforcement plates.The new repair procedure will replace SEHS9998-01 Special Instruction and TEVN4113 /TEVP4113 Video.Please report incidences of rear track roller frame cracking to:Paul Wood 309-494-0887orRon Reinholdt 309-675-3611COPYRIGHT 2000 CATERPILLAR ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
