Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Put identification on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Cap and plug all lines, hoses, and tubes to prevent fluid loss and to prevent contaminants from entering the system.
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
1. Connect the steering frame lock link. See the topic "Separate & Connect Steering Frame Lock Link" in this module.2. Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to the topic "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" in this module. 3. Disconnect and plug six hydraulic hose assemblies (2) from brake valve (1). 4. Remove retainer (3). Remove pin (4). Remove brake pedal (5). Remove spring (6). 5. Remove retainer (7). Remove pin (8). Remove roller (9).6. Using two persons, remove two bolts (10) and remove brake valve (1) from the machine. 7. Remove boot (11) from brake valve (1). The following steps are for the installation of the brake control valve.8. Ensure that all parts of the brake control valve are thoroughly clean prior to assembly.9. Install the brake control valve in the reverse order of removal.10. Check the level of the hydraulic oil in the right tank and fill the tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct fluid and filling procedure.
