The steering and brake control valve is installed on the top of the case. The case is located below the operator seat.The control valve is operated by a linkage that connects the steering lever, the foot brake pedal, and the parking brake lever to the valve.The first movement of a steering lever causes the steering clutch to disengage and the machine makes a gradual turn. Further movement of the steering lever engages the brake and the machine makes a sharp turn.The foot brake pedal engages both brakes and the brakes stop the machine. The parking brake lever engages both brakes and the brake prevents the machine from moving.Oil flow to the steering and brake control valve comes from the transmission charging section of the oil pump.The pump first sends oil to the oil filter. The oil will then divide. Part of the oil flows to the priority valve. The oil then flows to the transmission controls. Part of the oil flows to the steering and brake control valve.The oil to the control valve flows in the supply port. The oil then flows to passages (2), (31) and (17).Oil to passages (31) and (17) flows through chambers (33) and (8) to the steering clutches.When the clutches, along with passages and chambers are full of oil, pressure in chambers (33) and (8) starts to increase.The oil pressure is sent through passages (11) and (33) to chambers (7) and (28). The oil pressure starts to move spools (29) and (22) to the left against the spring force.When the oil pressure against the spools equals the spring force, the spools allow a certain amount of oil to flow in chambers (10), and (31). The flow of oil makes up any losses. Also, the oil keeps constant pressure on the clutches.The clutch pressure can be adjusted by loosening the nut on the adjustable spool and turning adjusting screw (A).When the clutch pressure is decreased to zero, the clutches are released by the pressure of lubrication oil around the clutches. Shims (B) are used to adjust the clutch pressure to 0 kPa (0 psi).Oil to passage (2) flows through check valve (1) to passage (28). Passage (28) moves the oil to chamber (20). Then, the oil flows to chambers (35) and (18). Oil through these chambers flows to the brakes.When the brakes, along with passages and chambers are full of oil, pressure in chambers (35) and (18) starts to increase.The oil pressure is sent through passages (36) and (13) to chambers (25) and (21). The oil pressure starts to move spools (26) and (24) to the left against the spring force.When the oil pressure against spools (26) and (24) is equal to the spring force, the spools allow a certain amount of oil flow in chambers (35) and (18). The flow of oil makes up any losses and the oil keeps constant pressure on the brakes.The brake pressure can be adjusted by loosening the nut on the adjustable spool and turning adjusting screw (C).When
