Reel-Out (4) - Pull the control rearward in order to reel out the wire rope. The wire rope will reel out under power. Release the control. The control will return to the BRAKE ON position.

Press the forward side of the rocker switch on top of the control in order to activate LOW LOCK. The indicator light will come on. The LOW LOCK position sets the variable displacement motor to the maximum pull and to the minimum speed in order to control the load precisely.

Press the rearward side of the rocker switch in order to return to full AUTO speed. The motor will self-adjust between the maximum and the minimum displacement in order to achieve the best speed and the best pull for the application.Machines with Caterpillar 57 Winches

Move plate (1) and rotate plate (2) so that slot (6) in plate (1) engages the tang on bracket (4) .
Rotate plate (2) until plate (2) engages slot (5) in bracket (4) .
Hole (3) in plate (1) and in plate (2) will accommodate a 5P-8501 Padlock .

Brake Off Detent (A) - The control remains in the BRAKE OFF DETENT position until the control is moved manually. The resistance of the mechanism prevents the reel-out of the wire rope by hand.
Brake Off (B) - Move the control to this position in order to release the winch. When you release the control, the control will return to the HOLD position. The wire rope reels out by the weight of the load, if the load is sufficiently heavy. The wire rope will reel out as the machine moves away from the load.
Brake On (C) - The wire rope should not move. Use this position when you use the machine for towing. Use this position when you are holding a load and when the winch is not active.
Reel-In (D) - Pull the control to this position in order to reel in the wire rope. The wire rope should move toward the winch under power. When you release the control, the control will return to the BRAKE ON position.
Reel-Out (E) - Pull the control to this position in order to reel out the wire rope. The wire rope reels out under power. Release the control. When you release the control, the control will return to the BRAKE ON position. Inching (Fine Control Operation)
The winch control valve is inside the winch case. The winch control valve is adjustable to the needs of the operator. A two-position sequence valve is contained within the winch control valve. This valve provides the no inch position
