Installation Procedure
Note: Inspect the O-ring seals for the hose assemblies and for the fittings. O-ring seals that are worn or damaged must be replaced.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Place pilot valve (8) in position and secure the pilot valve with bolts (19) .
Install bellows (18) .

Install pedals (16) and (17) on the pilot valve. Fasten the pedals with bolts (15). Tighten bolts (15) to a torque of 33 3 N m (24 2 lb ft).

Install rubber pedals (14) .

Install floormat (13), strip (12), and bolts (11) .

Install connectors (9) and (10) on pilot valve (8). Be sure to install connector (10) that has the filter in the correct location, as shown.

Install hose assemblies (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), and (7) on pilot valve (8) .
Install high efficiency filters in place of the pilot filter, the case drain filter, and the return filter. Operate the machine with the high efficiency filters for 250 hours. Then, replace the high efficiency filters with standard filters.
Check the oil level in the hydraulic system. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7421, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check" for the procedure. Also, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" for the correct hydraulic oil.
Start the engine and check for the leaks.
Obtain a hydraulic oil sample for S O S fluid analysis. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Sampling Interval and Location of Sampling Valve"for the location of the port.
If the S O S sample exceeds ISO 18/15, flush the hydraulic system. Refer to the Special Publication, SEBF8447, "Procedure for Filtering Hydraulic Excavator Hydraulic Oil".
