Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
The engine can have the ability to auto start. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repairs is performed.

Loosen screw (1) and remove harness assembly (2) from high coolant temperature switch (3).
Remove high coolant temperature switch (3) from adapter (4).
If necessary, remove adapter (4) from exhaust manifold (5). Follow Step 4.a through Step 4.b in order to remove the pocket from the exhaust manifold.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct procedure.
Remove pocket (4) from exhaust manifold (5). Installation Procedure

Ensure that the face of the adapter and the exhaust manifold are clean and free from damage.

If necessary, install adapter (4) to exhaust manifold (5). Follow Step 2.a through Step 2.c in order to install the adapter for the coolant temperature transmitter to the exhaust manifold.
Apply a bead of Tooling (A) to threads of adapter (4).
Install adapter (4) to exhaust manifold (5). Tighten the adapter to a torque of 25 N m (18 lb ft).
Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct procedure.
ApplyTooling (B) to threads of high coolant temperature switch. Install high coolant temperature switch (3) to pocket (4). Tighten the coolant temperature transmitter securely.
Install harness assembly (2) to high coolant temperature switch (3) and tighten screw (1) securely.
