Diesel engine exhaust contains products of combustion which may be harmful to your healthAlways start and operate the engine in a well-ventilated area and, if in an enclosed area, vent the exhaust to the outside.
Do not crank the engine for more than 30 seconds. Allow the starting motor to cool for two minutes before cranking again.Turbocharger (if equipped) damage can result, if the engine rpm is not kept low until the engine oil light/gauge verifies the oil pressure is sufficient.
Starting The Tractor Engine

Turn the machine disconnect switch to the ON position.
Move the transmission control (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Unlock the steering column. Move the steering column to the desired position and lock the steering column.
Engage the parking brake (2) .
Move the joystick to the HOLD position.
Partially depress the governor control pedal for the tractor engine. Continue to hold the governor control pedal as you crank the engine.
The coolant temperature switch will find out if the temperature of the engine coolant is below 0 °C (32 °F). If the temperature of the coolant is below this level, the ether starting aid will automatically be injected into the engine. Turn the engine start switch key (3) in order to start the engine. Release the engine start switch key when the engine starts. Release the governor control pedal after the engine starts. Release the ether starting aid switch after the engine starts.Note: Push ether starting aid switch (5) in order to inject more ether starting aid into the engine.Starting The Scraper Engine

Follow Step 1 through Step 5 in "Starting The Tractor Engine". Partially depress the governor control pedal for the scraper engine. Continue to hold the governor control pedal as you crank the engine.
Push down on scraper engine start switch (4). The coolant temperature switch will find out if the temperature of the engine coolant is below 0 °C (32 °F). If the temperature of the coolant is below this level, the ether starting aid will automatically be injected into the engine. Push the scraper engine start switch upward in order to start the scraper engine.
