Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

(1) Hydraulic tank breaker relief valve
(2) Access door
Open access cover (2) to the engine air cleaner compartment on the right-hand side of the machine. Hydraulic tank breaker relief valve (1) is located on the top of the hydraulic tank forward of the engine air cleaner housing. Press hydraulic tank breaker relief valve in order to relieve any tank pressure.

(4) Hydraulic system oil filter
Hydraulic system oil filter (4) is located in the hydraulic oil tank. Open access door (3) in the platform behind the cab in order to service the hydraulic system oil filter.

(6) Oil filter cover and bypass valve assembly

Remove four bolts and washers (5) that retain oil filter cover and bypass valve assembly (6). Use the handle attached to the oil filter cover to lift the oil filter cover and bypass valve assembly from the hydraulic oil tank.
Use handle (8) attached to oil filter element (9) to lift the oil filter element from the oil filter housing. Dispose of the used oil filter element properly.
Clean the oil filter cover and bypass valve assembly in a clean, nonflammable solvent. Inspect o-ring seal (7). If the seal is damaged, install a new seal.
Install a new oil filter element.
Install the oil filter cover and bypass valve assembly in the oil filter housing. Install the four bolts and washers that retain the oil filter cover and bypass valve assembly.
Tighten the four bolts to a torque of 50 10 N m (37 7 lb ft).
Close the access door in the platform behind the cab.
Check the hydraulic system oil level. Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check" for the correct procedure.
