Installation Procedure 1 : For Roller Frame That Does Not Have a Failed Recoil Rod

(1) 418-9559 Plate

(3) Bottom roller (second roller from front)Note: It is not necessary to break the track to perform this procedure.
Relieve grease pressure in the track adjuster. Yoke will then be in the approximate position shown in Illustration 1. Each roller frame has two plates (1) already in place. Check that the plates (1) have not been misaligned, lower leg should be horizontal for the proper alignment of the wear blocks.
Remove the bottom roller (3) to gain access. In some situations, it may be necessary to remove the third roller from the front of the machine to gain better access.
Lift the adjustment yoke (2) to gain clearance.

Preassemble the following parts

418-9782Tighten the 7X-2550 Bolt (5) to a torque of 100 20 N m (74 15 lb ft).
Position the preassembled components from Step 4 on top of the two 418-9559 Plates (1). Install the 8T-4223 Hard Washer (10) and the 8T-4139 Bolt (11) and tighten to a torque of 100 20 N m (74 15 lb ft).
Reinstall the bottom roller or rollers and adjust track tension as stated in the Operation and Maintenance Manual.Installation Procedure 2 : For Roller Frame That Has a Failed Recoil Rod
Note: It is necessary to break the track to perform this procedure. Be sure to position master link to facilitate procedure.
Relieve grease pressure in the track adjuster yoke.
The recoil spring is not constrained in this situation. Using blocking and the dozer blade, carefully push the track idler rearward to relieve track tension and break the track at the master link.
Allow the idler to move forward by the force of the recoil spring, until the spring is fully relaxed.
Remove the front idler gp per the Disassembly and Assembly instructions.
Remove the recoil spring and inspect for damage. Recoil spring will not normally require replacement.
Remove failed recoil rod and remaining components from the recoil spring gp.
Refer to the "Installation Procedure 1 : For Roller Frame That Does Not Have a Failed Recoil Rod" and follow Steps 1 and 3-6.
Following Disassembly and Assembly instructions, rebuild the recoil spring gp with new rod, install the recoil spring gp and track idler gp. Reconnect track.
Adjust track tension as stated in the Operation and Maintenance Manual.Reference Section
