This Program must be administered either before or after failure.In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS43159" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code.If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

PROBLEM
The 257-8660 Thrust Bearing can fail on certain CX31 On-Highway Transmissions. The axial thrust load on the thrust bearing can be too high. Insufficient clearance can result due to the stack up tolerances of mating parts. The overall clearance has been increased by designing a new 3577145/">357-7145 Carrier Assembly.

ACTION REQUIRED
When the transmission is disassembled for rebuild or other reasons the existing 275-5519 Carrier Assembly for the #1 gear train can be replaced.
Refer to KENR5091 "Disassembly and Assembly for CX31 On-Highway Transmission Power Train" for repair procedures and instructions. Install the new 3577145/">357-7145 Carrier Assembly for the #1 gear train. The new design 350-8540 Wave Spring is also to be used with this repair.
