Turn the engine start switch key (1) to the START position.
Inject starting aid (ether), ONLY while cranking the engine, or after initial start-up, until the engine is running smoothly.Use sparingly. Excessive ether without cranking can cause piston and ring damage.Wait approximately two seconds before injecting again.Use ether for cold starting purposes only.After 30 seconds of engine cranking, allow two minutes for starting motor to cool before cranking again.
Push the ether starting aid switch (2) and release. A metered amount of ether will be injected.
Operate the ether starting aid switch at intervals of two seconds while you crank the engine.
Release the engine start switch key when the engine starts.
Continue to operate the ether starting aid switch at intervals of two seconds until the engine is running smoothly.
Allow the engine to warm up at LOW IDLE for five minutes.To start the engine below -18°C (0°F), the use of additional cold weather starting aids is recommended. One of the following may be required.
A coolant heater
A fuel heater
An oil heater
