HOUSING A HYD 5P2992 - Caterpillar

Do not disconnect the air line to the parking brake rotochamber until the air pressure is zero. Failure to do so can result in personal injury.
1. Disconnect air line (1) from the parking brake rotochamber. Connect shop air to the rotochamber and release the parking brake. 2. Remove cotter pin that holds pin (5) to the lever and rod end. Remove pin (5).3. Remove nuts (3) and the parking brake rotochamber from its mounting bracket.4. The steps that follow are for assembly purposes.5. Put parking brake rotochamber (2) in position on bracket. Do not tighten the nuts.6. Connect shop air to the parking brake rotochamber. Install the pin that holds rod end (4) to lever (6). Install the cotter pin in pin (5).7. Tighten the nuts that hold the rotochamber to the bracket. Remove the shop air.8. Connect air line (1) to the rotochamber.Disassemble And Assemble Parking Brake Rotochamber
Start By:a. remove parking brake rotochamber 1. Remove regulator (1) and yoke (2) from rod.
The rotochamber is under spring tension. Do not remove bolts (3) until assembly is under compression. If cover is removed without tooling (A), personal injury can result.
2. Install tooling (A) on the rotochamber assembly. Also, put wire around assembly as shown to help keep assembly in alignment during disassembly. 3. Remove bolts (3), cover (4), assembly (5), spring (6) and rod from body (7). The only replacement item in the rotochamber assembly is in the spring. If any other items are in need of repair, the entire unit must be replaced. 4. If necessary, remove the O-ring seal (8) and the felt wiper seal (9) from rod. 5. Install the felt wiper seal (9) and the O-ring seal (8) on the rod assembly (5). 6. Put rod assembly (5) in cover (4). Install spring (6) and body (7). 7. Put assembly in tooling (A) as shown.8. Put wire assembly around tooling (A) for alignment purposes and with the assembly in compression. Install the bolts to hold cover (4) on body (7). Remove tooling (A). 9.
