Pump Compartment (1) Pump drive lubrication gear pump (2) Line (inlet) (3) Line (outlet)The cooling system for the pump drive (5) provides cooled lubrication oil to the pump drive (5). The pump drive lubrication gear pump (1) pulls oil from the pump drive (5). The pump (1) sends the oil to the pump drive lubrication cooler (4). The oil is cooled by engine coolant and the oil is returned to the pump drive (5). In the pump drive (5), the oil lubricates the internal components.A pressure sensor is located in the outlet port of the pump drive lubrication cooler (4). The pressure sensor sends a signal about the pressure of the oil to the Engine Control Module (ECM). A temperature sensor is located in the lower right corner of the pump drive housing. The temperature sensor sends a signal about the temperature of the oil to the ECM.If the temperature of the pump drive (5) rises above specifications, the Engine Control Module (ECM) sends a signal to the Vital Information Management System (VIMS) module over the Cat data link. The VIMS display module will show a level 2 warning about the temperature. If the temperature condition lasts over 150 seconds the warning changes to a level 3. The VIMS module is located behind the cover of the large electrical panel that is located in the cab support.
