Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Turn the fuel supply to the “OFF” position.

Disconnect hose assembly (2) and hose assembly (3) from the fuel transfer pump.
Remove bolts (4).
Remove fuel transfer pump (1) from the adapter.
Remove O-ring seal (5) from fuel transfer pump (1).
Remove bolts (7). Remove cover (6) from the front housing. Remove O-ring seal (8) from the cover.Installation Procedure

Install O-ring seal (5) on fuel transfer pump (1). Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
Position fuel transfer pump (1) in the adapter. Install bolts (4).
Connect hose assembly (2) and hose assembly (3) to the fuel transfer pump.
Install O-ring seal (8) on cover (6). Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
Put cover (6) in position on the front housing. Apply Tooling (A) on bolts (7). Install bolts (7) and tighten to a torque of 30 5 N m (22 4 lb ft).
Turn the fuel supply to the “ON” position.
Remove the air from the fuel system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Fuel System - Prime".
