Remove O-ring seal (26) and impeller (20) from hub (24).

Remove thrust bearing race (27), the bearing retainer, and the thrust bearing from converter stator (28).

Use two people to remove converter stator (28) and carrier assembly (16) from housing assembly (3). The combined weight of converter stator (28) and carrier assembly (16) is approximately 28 kg (62 lb).

Use Tooling (A) to remove retaining ring (29) from converter stator (28).
Remove carrier assembly (16) from converter stator (28).
Remove side plate (30), the 13 freewheel springs, the 13 freewheel rollers, and the freewheel cam.

Remove metal seal ring (31).
Remove bearing (32).

Remove retaining ring (33) and side plate (34) from converter stator (28).

Remove retainer ring (35).
Raise the temperature of converter stator (28). Remove freewheel cam (36) from converter stator (28).

Remove thrust bearing (37), the thrust bearing race, and the bearing retainer from converter turbine (38).

Turn housing assembly (3) and place on wood blocks.
Use a hammer and a suitable brass punch to remove hub (39) and converter turbine (38) from housing assembly (3).
Remove the ball bearing from converter turbine (38).

Use Tooling (A) to remove retainer ring (40).
Remove 18 bolts (41) and hub (39).
Install two bolts (41) to converter turbine (38). Use a soft faced hammer to remove clamp ring (42). Remove two bolts (41).

Remove seal ring (43).

Remove retaining ring (44).
Remove clutch backing plate (45), the two clutch plates and the three clutch disc assemblies.

Install Tooling (C) at location (Z).
Remove lockup clutch piston (46).
Remove seal ring (48).
Remove seal ring (47) (not shown).
