Front wheel (1) Axle (2) Wheel (3) Rubber toric ring (4) Bolts (5) Retainer plate (6) Shim pack (7) Bolts (8) Bearing assembly (9) Bearing assembly (10) Seal retainer
Remove the thread lock compound from the thread holes.
Install seal retainer (10), bearing assembly (9), wheel (2) and bearing assembly (8) onto axle (1) .
Without using shims (6), use seven equally spaced bolts (7) to assemble retainer plate (5) to the axle (1).
Torque seven bolts (7) to 50 N m (37 lb ft) while you rotate the wheel for at least 3 revolutions. Rotating the wheel helps to seat the bearings.
Loosen bolts (7) .
Repeat Step 4.
Measure the gap from the end of axle (1) to the top of retainer plate (5). Record the value. This value will be used to ensure movement of bearing assembly (8) on axle (1) .
Loosen bolts (7) by 60 degrees. Rotate the wheel for at least three revolutions.
Measure the gap from the end of axle (1) to the top of retainer plate (5). Record the value. Compare this value to the value that was recorded in Step 7. If the two measured gaps are equal, bearing assembly (8) is not sliding properly. Use the following procedure to correct the bearing assembly:
Remove bolts (7), retainer plate (5), and bearing assembly (8) from axle (1) .
Check for burrs.
Repeat Step 3 through Step 9 until bearing assembly (8) begins to slide properly.
Torque seven bolts (7) to 20 N m (15 lb ft) while you rotate the wheel for two revolutions.
Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 30 5 N m (22 4 lb ft) while you rotate the wheel for two revolutions.
Repeat Step 11 until there is no movement of bolts (7) .
Use a depth micrometer to measure the distance from the end of axle (1) to the outer face of retainer plate (5). Use two threaded holes on the retainer plate (5). Record the measurements.Note: If the difference between the two measurements exceeds 0.13 mm (0.005 inch), do not continue with the adjustment procedure. Remove the wheel, the bearing assemblies, and the seal retainer from the axle. Check the axle and the bearing assemblies for any interference that prevents the correct seating of the wheel bearings. Repeat Step 2 through Step 12 until the measurements are within 0.13 mm (0.005 inch). When the correct tolerance is achieved, record the average of the measurements.
Remove retainer plate (5) .
Use an outside micrometer to measure the thickness of retainer plate (5) at the threaded holes that were used to take the measurements in Step 13. Use these measurements to determine the average thickness of retainer plate (5). Record the measurement.
Subtract the average thickness of the retainer plate from the average measurement that was obtained in Step 13. Record this dimension.
Install shim pack (6) between axle (1) and retainer plate (5). The shim pack thickness should equal the dimension that was obtained in Step 16 minus 0.07 0.03 mm (0.003 0.001 inch).Note: Put 9S-3263 Thread Lock
