Before performing Steps 10 through 13, refer to page 8 and 9 of the December 27, 1993 Service Magazine, "New Flexible Hose Assembly Used In The Exhaust Bypass Group.
1. Drain the coolant to a point below the bypass valve group.2. Remove the boost line and two coolant lines at the bypass valve, and remove the bypass valve group from the engine.3. In the 4P4862 Exhaust Bypass Group, if the 4P4856 Heat Shield is still on the bypass valve, remove it.4. Remove the 8M2665 Breather from the existing bypass valve.5. Install the 8M2665 breather on the new 1116118 Exhaust Bypass Group.6. Remove the high pressure turbocharger 7E7510 Coolant Line that goes between the turbocharger and water manifold at the very top of the engine.7. In the 9Y8924 Turbocharger Support Group, remove the 7E7519 Bracket on the right side of the engine that connects the 7E7517 Turbocharger Support Leg to the high pressure turbocharger.8. Install the new 1064679 Bracket in place of the existing 7E7519 Bracket in the 9Y8924 Turbocharger Support Group using a 7E2340 Gasket. Install the 7E7510 Turbocharger Coolant Line with 8L2746, 336033, and 8L2786 Seal-O-Rings.9. If the boost line from the aftercooler to the bypass valve has already been updated to the flexible style, skip Steps 10 through 13 and go directly to Step 14. If the boost line is still the original solid line, proceed to Step 10 to install a new flexible line.10. Install one each 1054309 Bracket, 1A1460 Bolt, 7D1649 Washer, and 1F7958 Nut in the 9Y8924 Turbocharger Support Group (refer to page 8 and 9 of the December 27, 1993 Service Magazine, "New Flexible Hose Assembly Used In The Exhaust Bypass Group).11. Install one each 1030902 Plate, 3B1915 Bolt, 5M2894 Washer in the 9Y8914 Air Lines Group.12. Install two 4P0707 Clamps in the 9Y8907 Water Lines Group.13. Install the following parts in the 4P4862 Exhaust Bypass Group:2 8F2396 Grommet2 0L1143 Bolt1 8N9072 Valve Body4 4P0707 Clamp Assembly2 9S8752 Nut4 9X6458 Washer1 321267 Flared Connector1 1030901 Hose Assembly14. Install the new 1116118 Bypass Valve Group on the engine with a new 7C9710 Gasket.15. Connect the new bypass valve boost line to the new bypass valve.16. Install the two bypass valve coolant lines with three 336033 Seal-O-Rings and one 8L2746 Seal-O-Ring.17. Fill the engine cooling system to the proper level with coolant, start the engine, and check for leaks.Group 2
1. Drain the coolant to a point below the bypass valve.2. Remove the flexible boost line and the two coolant lines at the bypass valve, and remove the bypass valve group from the engine.3. In the 4P4862 Exhaust Bypass Group, if the 4P4856 Heat Shield is still on units S/N 1HL32-60, remove it. Also remove the 8M2665 Breather (to be installed later).4. In the 1008020 Bypass Valve, remove the 4N4652 Cover, two 3S5849 Gaskets, and the Diaphragm. The existing diaphragm should be either a 3S6228 Diaphragm (orange) or a 6I2537 Diaphragm (black). Install a new 1131572 Diaphragm
