Before lifting the machine, ensure that suitable lifting equipment is available and that the personnel are familiar with lifting work. The weight of the machine is shown on the rating plate, on the dimension drawing, and the packing list.While conducting any motor lifting operations, the following points must be observed:
Use only the lifting lugs or eyes intended for lifting the complete motor. Do not use any small additional lifting lugs or eyes available, as those lugs or eyes are only for service purposes.
The center of gravity of machines with the same frame may vary due to different outputs, mounting arrangements, and auxiliary equipment.
Check that eyebolts or the lifting lugs integrated with the machine frame are undamaged before lifting. Damaged lifting lugs must not be used.
Lifting eyebolts must be tightened before lifting. If needed, the position of the eyebolt must be adjusted with suitable washers.
Improper lift rigging can allow unit to tumble causing injury and damage.
Note: Do not lift the complete generating set by the generator lifting points.Unpack the equipment with care in order to avoid scratching painted surfaces. Move the unit to the mounting location. The unit can be moved by either of the following methods:
Attach an overhead crane to the eyebolts that are installed on the generator frame.
Use a lift truck in order to lift the generator.The hoist and the hoist cables should have a rating greater than the weight of the generator.Note: The machine weight can be found on the rating plate, dimension drawing, and the packing list.

Ensure that the machine is lifted from its frame. Do not lift the machine from the top cover.Always keep the generator in the horizontal position during lifting. Keeping the generator horizontal will reduce the risk of the rotor falling out if a single-bearing design.Note: A machine mounted on a pallet should be lifted by crane from the lifting eyes of the machine.
