PROBLEM
A frame boss needs to be relocated on certain 793D Off-Highway Trucks. The 273-0097 Fan Hose may interfere with the frame boss which could result in a hose failure. This hose failure may cause hydraulic oil to contact the turbocharger. If hydraulic oil contacts the turbocharger it may result in a fire, which may cause personal injury or death.

Locate the 273-0097 Fan Hose and the 7X-7962 Boss, see image 1. Move any wires or hoses out of the area of the boss to be moved. Measure upward 25 ? 5 mm (0.98 ? 0.20 inch) on the frame assembly from the location of the existing boss and mark this position. Remove the boss by air arc gouging. Be careful not to remove the parent material from the frame assembly. Dress grind the former location of the boss and paint as necessary. Be careful not to remove the mark for the new boss location. Position one 9R-2613 Boss at the new location on the frame. Attach the new boss using an electrode that is classified as an ANSI/AWS A5.1 E7018 electrode with a 3 mm (0.12 inch) fillet weld around the boss. Reposition any wires and hoses that were previously moved back into their correct positions.
