Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device onto pin assembly (13). The weight of Tooling (B) and pin assembly (13) is approximately 104 kg (230 lb). Use Tooling (B) to remove pin assembly (13). Remove shims (14).

D 369-9451 O-Ring Assembly Compound - Note: Make sure that the pin bores in the boom and the pin bores in the upper frame are clean and free of dirt and debris prior to installing the boom in the upper frame.

Illustration 11 g03892532Note: Apply a thin coat of Tooling (C) to the bores in the upper frame and in the bore for the boom foot pin assembly. Apply a thin coat of Tooling (C) to the lip of lip seals.
Install retainer plate (4) on the boom cylinder pin. Install bolts (3). Attach a suitable lifting device onto boom (11). The weight range of boom (11) and the stick cylinder is approximately 1500 kg to 3000 kg (3300 lb to 6615 lb). Place the boom in position in the upper frame of the machine. Make sure that the pin bores in the upper frame align with the pin bore in the boom.

Install pin assembly (13) in the upper frame and in the boom.

Measure the total clearance between the boom and the upper frame at the bore for the boom foot pin assembly. The total clearance of Dimension (a) plus Dimension (b) must not be more than 0.80 mm (0.030 inch). If the total clearance is less than 0.80 mm (0.030 inch), the addition of shims between the boom and the upper frame will not be required. If the total clearance is more than 0.80 mm (0.03 inch), add the correct thickness of shims to obtain the required clearance.
Install the correct number of shims (14).

Install pin assembly (13) in the upper frame and in the boom.
Install bolt (12) in pin assembly (13). Tighten bolt (12) to a torque of 325 40 N m (240 30 lb ft).
Remove the suitable lifting device from the boom.

Connect harness assembly (10).

Use a suitable lifting device to raise boom cylinder (2). The weight of boom cylinder (2) is approximately 204 kg (450 lb). Use Tooling (A) and a suitable hammer to drive pin (6) into boom cylinder (2).

Install shims (5), retainer plate (4), and bolts (3) to secure boom cylinder (2). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 100 20 N m (74 15 lb ft).
