The jacket water heater raises the temperature of the engine coolant. The heat is transfered to the block. A warmer block allows the engine to start faster in cold outside temperatures. Install the 128-3811 Jacket Water Heater Kit (A) for machines in cold climates. Install the Jacket Water Heater in the expansion plug at the rear of the block. See Illustration 1. Table 1 lists the replacement parts.
Do not plug in the jacket water heater if the heater element is not immersed in coolant. If not immersed, the heater element sheath may burst and may result in personal injury.
Do not use more than a 65 percent concentration of anti-freeze in the cooling system, as a shortened heater element life will result.Do not use the jacket water heater in a cooling system that contains any form of stop-leak additive, as a shortened heater element life will result.Do not use a petroleum-based lubricant on the o-ring seal. A petroleum-based lubricant will deteriorate the o-ring seal material and will result in leakage of the engine coolant.Always unplug the jacket water heater before starting the engine.
