HOUSING 8V1622 - Caterpillar

1. Park the machine on a level surface and apply the park brake. Block the rear wheels. Turn the start switch off and disconnect the batteries. 2. Use the lever extension from the machine tool kit to fully lower the front suspension. Hold the lever in the "lower" position until the hissing noise stops, indicating that the accumulator has completely drained.On two axle machines with rear suspension, lower the rear suspension in the same way.It is not necessary to lower the rear suspension on three axle machines. 3. Drain the cooling system. 4. Drain the engine oil. 5. Lower the crankcase guard and remove the drain hose. 6. Drain the air system. 7. Raise the hood and support with blocks or lifting equipment. The hood weighs approximately 70kg (155 lb). Remove the two gas struts (1) and the two bolts (2). Lift off the hood. 8. Remove the priming port plug (3) from the hydraulic pump suction line and loosen the hydraulic tank filler cap. Disconnect the wire from the torque converter temperature sender unit (4). 9. With a suitable container placed under the pump, disconnect the three hydraulic lines and allow oil to drain into the container. Remove the rubber section of the suction line (5). 10. Remove three bolts and lift off the fan guard. 11. Remove five of the six bolts securing the fan to the fan adaptor. Leave the top bolt (6) in position and support the fan with lifting equipment. Remove the top bolt, lower the fan into the fan shroud and remove the spacer (7).12. Remove the radiator grille. 13. Disconnect the wires from the light and turn signal assemblies. Label them first for ease of assembly. Pull the wires through the holes in the radiator shroud. 14. Support the radiator shroud with lifting equipment and remove the radiator link (8), and the five bolts (9). Remove the shroud. 15. Support the radiator with lifting equipment and remove the inlet and outlet hoses (10) and the cab heater hoses (11). 16. Remove the two mounting bolts and the tie bar (if equipped). Remove the radiator from the machine. 17. Remove the rubber section (12) of the engine oil filler pipe.18. Remove the rubber elbow (13) and cover the air intake.19. Remove the bolts and the gasket from the joint in exhaust pipe (14). 20. Disconnect the fuel lines (15) from the fuel injection pump.21. Disconnect the wires from the tachometer drive (16) and the shut down solenoid (17).22. Disconnect the governor linkage (18). 23. Disconnect the wires from the starter motor and solenoid. 24. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler pipes from the engine. 25. Label for correct identification during assembly and disconnect the wires from the: * Water Temperature Sender (19)* Water Temperature Switch (20)* Ether Start Probe (21)* Hourmeter Switch (22)* Engine Oil Pressure Sender (23)* Engine Oil Pressure Switch (24). 27. Disconnect the delivery line (25) from the air compressor and the ether start atomiser pipe (26). 28. Disconnect the
