Do not disconnect any air lines until the air pressure is zero.
1. Drain the air from the air tanks. 2. Disconnect two air hose assemblies (1) and (3) from the brake rotochamber.3. Loosen the screw and shaft in the slack adjuster until pin (4) can be removed. Remove the pin.4. Remove nuts (5) that hold the rotochamber in position. Remove brake rotochamber (2).Install Brake Rotochambers (With Parking Brake)
1. Put brake rotochamber (1) in position on the bracket. Install the nuts that hold it.2. Connect the two air hose assemblies to the brake rotochamber.3. Connect the rod in the rotochamber to the slack adjuster.4. Make an adjustment to the brakes. See Adjustment of Brakes.Adjustment Of Brakes
The maximum amount of movement [distance (A)] of the rod before adjustment is needed is 3.00 in. (76.2 mm). 1. Loosen screw (1).2. Turn shaft (2) until the movement of rod is 1.62 in. (41.1 mm) (cold) when the brakes are engaged.3. Tighten screw (1).Disassemble Brake Rotochambers (With Parking Brake)
start by:a) remove brake rotochambers (with parking brake) 1. Remove yoke (1) and (2), boot (4) and guard (3) from the rod. Remove the felt from over the rod. 2. Install tooling (A) on the rotochamber as shown. Before the rotochamber can be disassembled, the parking brake must be released. 3. Give the parking brake a constant supply of 80 psi (5.6 kg/cm2) (550 kPa) minimum air to release it. This procedure will not always release it. This procedure will not always release the rollers. Put a small amount of shop air approximately 40 psi (2.8 kg/cm2) (280 kPa) into service brake apply port (X) to release the rollers from the rod.4. Remove bolts (5) and washers. 5. Make a separation between housing (6) and body (8) with tooling (A) until tension on spring (7) is released. Remove spring (7).6. Keep the air supply on the parking brake until rod (9) is free of housing (6). 7. Hold cap (10) in position and remove screws (11).8. Remove cap (10) slowly until the tension on the spring under the cap is released.9. Remove the spring and plastic washer. 10. Remove rollers (12).11. Turn the housing over as shown. 12. Remove screws (13) and cover (14). 13. Push plastic piston (15) and collar out of the housing. 14. Remove washer (17). Remove nuts (16) and washers. 15. Pull diaphragm unit out of body (8). 16. Remove nuts that hold clamp (19) and shaft (22) together.17. Remove shaft (22), guide (21), diaphragm (20) and clamp (19) from clamp (18).Assemble Brake Rotochambers (With Parking Brake)
1. Put clamp (2) in position in clamp (1).2. Install guide (4) in diaphragm (3).3. Put the diaphragm and guide in position on the studs of clamp (2).4. Put shaft (5) in position in guide (4). 5. Install washers and nuts (7). Install washer (6).6. Put the outer lip of diaphragm (3) around the outer edge of clamp (1). 7. Put liquid soap on the diaphragm. Put the diaphragm unit in body (8) and install
