Remove the track. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Remove and Install".
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes.

Remove 24 bolts (1) and the 24 washers.

Move sprocket (2) slightly away from the final drive. Attach Tooling (A) to sprocket (8) and remove sprocket (2) from the machine. The weight of sprocket (2) is approximately 47 kg (104 lb).

Remove the bolts, cover (3), cover (4), and cover (5).
Drain the hydraulic oil from the hydraulic oil tank into a suitable container. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.

Disconnect harness assembly (6) from piston motor (7).
Disconnect four hose assemblies (8) from piston motor (7).

Attach a suitable lifting device to final drive assembly (9). Remove bolts (10) and remove final drive assembly (16) from the machine. The weight of final drive assembly (9) is approximately 360 kg (794 lb).

Remove bolts (10), the washers, and mount assembly (9).
Remove two bolts (12), the two washers, and piston motor (11) from final drive (13).Installation Procedure

Install final drive (13) in the reverse order of removal.End By:
