F 154-6184 Long yoke bolt 1 Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
Measure the thickness of the carrier with Tooling (E) near the outer diameter hole. Record the measurement.

Note: Install bearings with the “thrust” labels on the inside diameter. Use Tooling (D) and a suitable press in order to install bearings (11) and the seal into the carrier (8).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device in order to support drive shaft (1). The weight of drive shaft (1) is approximately 95 kg (210 lb). Position drive shaft (1), as shown.

Attach Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) to carrier (8). The weight of carrier (8) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb). Position carrier (8) , as shown. Attach yoke (4) and Tooling (F) onto the drive shaft. Use yoke (4) and Tooling (F) in order to seat carrier (8) onto the drive shaft. Remove yoke (4). Position carrier (8) in order to install bolts (7) through the frame. Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 120 20 N m (88 14 lb ft). Remove Tooling (A) and Tooling (B). Install retainer (9) without the shims. Install four evenly spaced bolts (10). Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 55 10 N m (40 7 lb ft).
Use Tooling (E) in order to measure the depth through the outer diameter hole in carrier (8). Subtract the thickness of the carrier from the measurement in Step 1. Use Tooling (E) to measure the shims. The shims must be within 0.025 mm (0.0010 inch) of required measurement.
Remove bolts (10). Remove retainer (9). Install retainer (9) and shims. Install bolts (10) and tighten evenly.
Connect tube assembly (6). Install yoke (4). Install bolt (5). Tighten bolt (5) to a torque of 530 70 N m (390 52 lb ft). Note: Driveline yoke groups and joints must be aligned “in phase” for the proper alignment of drive shafts and joints.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device in order to support drive shaft (3). The weight of drive shaft (3) is approximately 128 kg (282 lb). Install bolts (2). Tighten new bolts (2) to a torque of 530 70 N m (390 51 lb ft).

Install new bolts (12). Tighten bolt (12) to a torque of 530 70 N m (390 51 lb ft).

Use yoke (4) and Tooling (F) in order to seat carrier (8) onto the drive shaft. Remove yoke (4). Position carrier (8) in order to install bolts (7) through the frame. Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 120 20 N m (88 14 lb ft). Remove Tooling (A) and Tooling (B). Install retainer (9) without the shims. Install four evenly spaced bolts (10). Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 55 10 N m (40 7 lb ft).
