To prevent possible personal injury, make sure the pressure in the air system is zero before any air lines are disconnected.
2. Disconnect air lines (3) and (5) from the diverter valve.3. Remove the bolts that hold the hose assembly and block (6) to the diverter valve. Move the hose assembly and block (6) away from the diverter valve.4. Remove the bolts that hold elbow (2) to the diverter valve.5. Remove bolts (1) that hold diverter valve (4) to the manifold, and remove the diverter valve. The following steps are for installation of the diverter valve.6. Make sure the O-ring seal and screen are in position in the manifold. Put diverter valve (4) in position on the manifold, and install bolts (1).7. Make sure the O-ring seal is in position in elbow (2), and connect the elbow to the diverter valve.8. Make sure the O-ring seals are in position in the hose assembly and block (6). Put the block and hose assembly in position, and install the bolts that hold them to the diverter valve. Air line (3) is from port 4 on the cab. Air line (5) is from the brake relay valve.9. Connect air lines (3) and (5) to diverter valve (4).10. Remove the body retaining cable, and lower the truck body.Disassemble And Assemble Diverter Valve (Torque Converter And Brake Cooling)
START BY:a. remove diverter valve (torque converter and brake cooling) 1. Remove the four bolts and retainer (6) from the valve body.2. Remove plate (12), diaphragm (11) and piston (7).3. Remove adapter (10) from the valve body. Remove O-ring seal (5) and lip-type seal (9) from the adapter.4. Remove plug (1), spring (3) and stem (4) from valve body (8). Remove O-ring seal (2) from the plug. The following steps are for assembly of the diverter valve (torque converter and brake cooling).5. Put stem (4) in position in valve body (8), and install spring (3).6. Put O-ring seal (2) in position on plug (1), and install the plug in the valve body.7. Use tool (A), and install lip-type seal (9) in adapter (10). Install seal (9) with the lip as shown. Put clean oil on the lip of the seal.8. Put O-ring seal (5) in position in adapter (10). Put the adapter in position on the end of the valve body (8).9. Install piston (7) on the end of stem (4).10. Put diaphragm (11), plate (12) and retainer (6) in position on the adapter, and install the four bolts that hold them in place.END BY:a. install diverter valve (torque converter and brake cooling)
