Information:

Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load can result in overheating and accelerated wear of the engine components. If the engine has been operating at high rpm and/or high loads, run at low idle for at least three minutes to reduce and stabilize internal engine temperature before stopping the engine.Avoiding hot engine shutdowns will maximize turbocharger shaft and bearing life.
In order to allow the engine to cool gradually, operate the engine at low idle for 5 minutes.

Turn engine start switch key to the OFF position in order to stop the engine.
Never turn the battery disconnect switch key to OFF with the engine running. Electrical system damage could result.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. Remove the disconnect key, and secure the lock on the cover plate.
If the machine will remain parked, chock the wheels when appropriate. Engine Idle Shutdown (If Enabled)
If Engine Idle Shutdown (EIS) is enabled, the engine will shut down after the operator is not operating the machine for a specified time. EIS can be enabled/disabled and EIS delay time can be set through or Cat ET. Engine Idle Shutdown may be required for local regulations. For more information on EIS, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Operator Controls".Delayed Engine Shutdown (If Enabled)
The Delayed Engine Shutdown allows the engine to run for a time after the engine start switch is turned to the OFF position to cool the engine and the machine system components. The engine start switch key may be removed.Note: There may be regulations that define the requirements for the operator and/or support personnel to be present when the engine is running.
Leaving the machine unattended when the engine is running may result in personal injury or death. Before leaving the machine operator station, neutralize the travel controls, lower the work tools to the ground and deactivate all work tools, and place the lever for the hydraulic lockout control in the LOCKED position.
Note: Leaving the machine unattended when the engine is running may result in property damage in the event of a malfunction.Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position. The following text will be displayed on the monitor, ENGINE COOLDOWN ACTIVE, WAIT.Delayed engine shutdown will continue to run until the engine and machine system components are cooled or until the maximum run time has been reached. The maximum run time is 5 minutes and can be configured using Electronic Technician.Note: To override delayed engine shutdown and stop the engine, turn the engine start switch to the STOP position.Note: Overriding delayed engine shutdown may reduce engine and machine system component life.Note: At any time during a delayed engine shutdown, the engine start switch may be turned to the ON position. The machine may be placed back into service.
