Removal Procedure
Personal injury or death can result from a fire.Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Use Tool (A) in order to remove secondary fuel filter (1) .

Disconnect tube assembly (2) and disconnect two wires (3) from fuel switch (4) .

Remove two bolts (5) and remove filter base (6) .Installation Procedure

Position filter base (6) and install two bolts (5) .

Connect tube assembly (2) and connect two wires (3) to fuel switch (4) .Note: The surface of the fuel filter base that contacts the fuel filter gasket must be clean and free of foreign material. Apply clean diesel fuel to the gasket on the new fuel filter assembly.

Install fuel filter (1) until the gasket contacts the fuel filter base. Tighten the filter by hand. The filter should be tightened one full turn.
