The LOWER position is then selected. This prevents the tailgate from moving material back into the body. Damage to the tailgate is also avoided.When a machine is equipped with a tailgate, the capacity of the body is increased and material spillage is reduced. The tailgate is either a mechanically activated scissors tailgate or a hydraulically activated underslung tailgate. However, material must be free flowing in order to eliminate hang-up at the gate.
