Illustration 2. Installation of 6V96 Adjuster Wrench in the 6V95 Socket.The 6V96 Adjuster Wrench is used to turn the adjusting screw in the end of the lever group in the control valve. The wrench has two milled (machined) tangs in the end of it. The wrench is also hollow so it will fit over the control lever on the control valve.
After the control valves have been adjusted, a fabricated FT1424 Boot Installer can be used to install the rubber boots on the ends of the control valves as shown in Illustration 4. The tool gives you a grip on the inside of the boot while the boot is pulled around and over the control valves. A drawing of the FT1424 Boot Installer is available from your Division Service Manager.
Procedure To Use The Tools
... Disconnect the control shaft from the end of the lever group; then remove the rubber boot from the valve.... Install the 6V95 Socket over the adjusting screw locknut; then install a box-end wrench over the socket.... Put the 6V96 Adapter Wrench through the socket.... Loosen the adjusting screw locknut; then adjust the spherical bearing end-play. See the Service Manual for the correct adjustment procedures.... After the end-play is adjusted correctly, hold the adjusting screw in position with the 6V96 Adjuster Wrench and tighten the locknut with the 6V95 Socket.... Install the rubber boot on the control valve with the FT1424 Boot Installer.... Connect the control shaft to the end of the lever group on the valve.
