Description of Change: A new connecting rod assembly is used in the G3600 engines with a compression ratio of 9.2:1.Adaptable To: The 348-7286 connecting rods assembly is used in the low compression vee engines and the 348-7288 connecting rod assembly is used in the low compression in-line engines. The new connecting rod assemblies use the same 1W-0098 connecting rod bolt and 205-0640 nuts as the previous rod assembly. The new connecting rod assemblies are available for parts service.The new 348-7286 connecting rod assembly and 348-7288 connecting rod assemblies are completely compatible and interchangeable with all previous G3600 connecting rods.The new connecting rod are for use in G3600 engines with a compression ratio of 9.2:1 and can be used with the standard 192-7870 connecting rod bearing . 348-7286 for use with G3612 (S/N: 1YG, BKE), G3616 (S/N: 4CG, BLB) 348-7288 for use with G3606 (S/N: 3XF, 4ZS), G3608 (S/N: 4WF, BEN)Note: The 263-1852 connecting rod gp are still being used in the 3606 and 3608 diesel engines. The 263-1852 connecting rod gp are still being used in the G3606 and G3608 high compression 10.5:1 engines. The 263-1853 connecting rod gp are still being used in the 3612 and 3616 diesel engines. Wipe the back of the rod bearing and the inside of the crank end rod bore with cleaning fluid in order to remove any oil or rust preventative prior to bearing installation.
The crank end rod bore does not require lubrication in the bore or on the back side of the bearing for assembly.
Coat the crank pin and rod bearing face with engine oil.
Install the piston rod assembly and follow the most recent instructions for the tightening of the connecting rod bolt.
