Assembly Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Inspect the condition of the O-ring seals. Replace the seals, if necessary.
Install the stud that holds the oil filter to the oil filter base. Tighten the stud to a torque of 68 7 N m (50 5 lb ft).

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install relief valve plunger (15) and spring (17) into oil filter base (11) .
Place O-ring seal (16) on plug (18) and install the plug in oil filter base (11) .

Install the following items in oil filter base (11) : oil pump bypass valve (8) , spring (9) and O-ring seal (14) .
Install cover (10) , the bolts, and the washers.
Install O-ring seal (12) and valve (13) in oil filter base (11) .
Install the bolts and the washers that hold valve (13) in place.

Install the following items in the oil filter base: retainer (6) , spring (4) , seat of relief valve spring (7) and spacer (3) .
Install bolt (5) .

Install relief valve assembly (2) .
Install O-ring seals (1) in the oil filter base.End By: Install the engine oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter Base - Install".
