The steering pump is a fixed displacement gear pump. The steering pump supplies oil to the steering system and charge oil to the rest of the hydraulic system. Oil is drawn into the pump through the suction port. Oil is sent through the discharge port to the steering control unit.The steering pump draws oil through the strainer from the hydraulic tank. The oil is sent to the steering control unit. When the machine is not turning, oil is sent through the steering control unit in order to charge the system.When you turn the steering wheel, the internal load sensing signal increases the charge pressure. The oil from the steering pump flows to the steering control unit. The steering control unit controls the direction and the speed of the turn.
