A     245-4121     Communication Cable As     1
Download Cat WebGPI 2.11. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS4548, "Procedure to Update the Web GPI Software for Heaters on the Asphalt Screeds" for the correct procedure.
Check the generator frequency. If necessary, adjust the generator frequency. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, KENR5066, "Generator Frequency - Test and Adjust".
Start the machine and warm the hydraulic oil to a minimum temperature of 38 °C (100 °F).

Use Tool (A) in order to connect a laptop computer to connector (1) on the electrical box on the screed.
Start the generator.
Use the main power switch in order to activate the heating system for the screed. Allow the heating system to run through the normal diagnostic tests.
Illustration 2 g01524667
Start the Web GPI software. Select "Application" icon (3) .
Select "Diagnostic Diagram" icon (2) .
The values in column (9) indicate the temperature of the screed plates. The temperatures are monitored by sensors on the screed plates.
Confirm that all of the values in column (9) are within 8.4 °C (15 °F) of each other.Note: The temperatures may not accurately represent ambient temperature readings.
Stop the test if any of the values in column (9) are outside the −9.5 °C (15 °F) range. Replace the sensor that is displaying the faulty value.
Locate the four circuit breakers on the generator. Turn the four circuit breakers to the OFF position.
Turn on the circuit breaker for the right extender only.
Set the heat to the low temperature setting.
Confirm that "Right Extender PI" (6) is "ON" (5 ). Confirm that the "Set Point SI" (4) is "OFF" (7). The other six "PI" and "SI" should be flashing on and off.
Confirm that the reading for the temperature sensor on the right side extender is increasing at a rate of approximately 2.8 °C (5 °F) in two to three minutes time. If the temperature change is different the circuit for the two heater elements may be open.
Check the temperature sensors for the three remaining plates. Confirm that the temperature is not rising. An increase in temperature in any of the plates may indicate incorrect wiring.
The reading for the values in column (8) should be approximately 3.80 to 4.40. A value of 2.5 to 3 would indicate an open circuit for the inner heating element. A value of 1.15 to 1.65 would indicate an open circuit for the outer heating element.
Refer to Testing and Adjusting, KENR3708, "Heater Element - Test" for the resistance values for the heating elements for front mount screeds.
Refer to Testing and Adjusting, KENR3709, "Heater Element - Test" for the resistance values for the heating elements for rear mount screeds.
Each screed plate should reach the low temperature setting of 93 °C (200 °F) in about
