Probable Causes
This condition does not indicate an electronic system problem. The low idle speed may be elevated due to one of the following features:
Low Battery Voltage Elevated Idle
Neutral Coast Elevated Engine SpeedNote: Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) will display the status of "Elevated Idle" if one of the above features is active. Conditions
Low Battery Voltage Elevated Idle
The engine idle speed will be elevated to 1000 rpm when all of the following conditions occur:
The parameter is set to "Enabled".
System battery voltage is less than 24.5 VDC for five minutes.
The throttle pedal position is below 25 percent for five minutes.
The machine is not in gear.
The parking brake is set.Neutral Coast Elevated Engine Speed
The engine idle speed will be elevated to 1300 rpm when all of the following conditions occur:
The machine is in neutral.
The machine ground speed is greater than 12 mph.
