START BY:a. install body retaining pins 1. Remove pressure tap (3) from the lockup clutch valve.2. Fasten a hoist and a 3/8"-16 NC forged eyebolt (2) to guard (1). Remove the bolts that hold the guard to the truck frame, and remove the guard. The weight of the guard is 29 kg (65 lb.). 3. Remove bolts (5) and guard (4). 4. Fasten a hoist to tube (7). Remove the bolts that hold spider (8) to the torque converter and yoke (6), and remove the spider.5. Lower the drive shaft, and remove the hoist. 6. Fasten a hoist to tube (7) as shown. Remove the bolts that hold the spider (9) to the transfer gears and tube (7), and remove the spider. 7. Use the hoist, and move the drive shaft to the rear of the vehicle. Use tool (A) to remove packing cap (10) from yoke (6). Remove the yoke, washers, seal and packing cap from the tube. 8. Lower the hoist, and move it to the center of tube (7). Use the hoist, and lift the tube over the transmission. The weight of the tube is 39 kg (85 lb.).Install Drive Shaft
1. Fasten a hoist to tube (1), and put the tube in position in the machine. 2. Put packing cap (2), washer (5), seal (3), washer (6) and yoke (4) in position on the tube. Install the packing cap on the yoke. 3. Put spider (7) in position between the transfer gears and tube (1), and install the bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb.ft.). Remove the hoist. 4. Fasten a hoist to the drive shaft as shown. Put spider (8) in position between the torque converter and yoke (4), and install the bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb.ft.). 5. Put guard (9) and two clips (10) in position, and install the bolts that hold them. 6. Fasten a hoist and a 3/8"-16 NC forged eyebolt to guard (11). Put the guard in position on the truck frame, and install the bolts that hold it.END BY:a. remove body retaining pins
