Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Park the machine on a level surface and stop the engine.

Remove oil filter (1).
Clean the filter mounting base. Make sure that the old filter seal is removed.
Lubricate the seal of the new filter with clean oil.
Install the new filter by hand until the seal contacts the filter mounting base. Note the position of the index marks on the filter in relation to a fixed point on the mounting base. Note: There are rotation index marks on each filter that is spaced 90 degrees (1/4 turn) away from each other. When you tighten the filter, use the rotation index marks as a guide.
Tighten all filters according to the instructions that are printed on the filter. For non-Caterpillar filters, use the instructions that are provided with the filter. Note: If necessary, use a strap type wrench or a suitable tool in order to turn the filter to the amount that is required for final installation. Make sure that the installation tool does not damage the filter.
Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Check the filter for leaks and make any necessary repairs.
Check the oil level in the hydraulic tank. If necessary, add oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check".
