Information:
1. Position tooling (A) under the boom frame bracing located below the rod end of the boom cylinder. Lower the boom on to tooling (A).2. Stop the engine. Move the pipelayer hook control lever to the slow raise position. Hold the hook control lever in this position for one minute to discharge the oil from the brake accumulator. 3. Remove five bolts (1) that hold winch control metering pump (2) to the winch brake housing. If necessary, use two 3/8" - 16 NC forcing screws to separate the metering pump from the winch brake housing. Remove the winch control metering pump. Install the winch control metering pump in the reverse order of the removal.Disassemble & Assemble Winch Control Metering Pump
Start By:a. remove winch control metering pump 1. Remove three O-ring seals (1). 2. Remove nut (2) and gear (3). If necessary, remove the key from the shaft. 3. Remove three bolts (4). 4. Remove bearing carrier (5) and O-ring seal (6). 5. Remove spring pin (8) and remove shaft (7).
Put identification marks on pump parts for assembly purposes.
6. Remove eight bolts (9). 7. Remove cover plate assembly (10) from pump body (11). The seals will be damaged when diaphragm (12) is removed from plate assembly (10).8. Remove diaphragm (12), the gaskets, and the seal from plate assembly (10). 9. Lift drive gear (13) and driven gear (14) straight out from pump body (11). 10. Remove pump body (11) from mounting adapter (15). The following steps are for the assembly of the winch control metering pump.11. Clean and inspect the components of the winch control metering pump for wear or damage.
Do not put the gasket material on the surface of mounting adapter (15) that comes in contact with the drive gear and the driven gear.
12. Put a light coat of No. 3 Permatex on the finished surface of mounting adapter (15).
Be sure the mounting adapter (15) is in the correct alignment with pump body (11).
13. Put pump body (11) in position on mounting adapter (15). Be sure the dowels on the pump body are fully engaged with the holes in the mounting adapter.14. Put clean hydraulic oil on the gear bores in pump body (11) and on the faces of drive gear (13) and driven gear (14).
Do not drop the gears into place. Dropping the gears will damage the surface of mounting adapter (15).
15. Install drive gear (13) and driven gear (14) into pump body (11). 16. Install seal (17), gaskets (16), and diaphragm (12) in cover plate assembly (10).
Be sure pump body (11) is in the correct alignment with cover plate assembly (10).
17. Put clean hydraulic oil on diaphragm (12). Put cover plate assembly (10) in position on pump body (11). Be sure the dowels on the pump body are fully engaged with the holes in the cover plate assembly.18. Install eight bolts (9). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 36 2 N m (27 1 lb ft).19. Put shaft (7) on the splined
