Note: The fuel tank does not need to be drained if the dial sensor is removed. If the dial sensor and the float sender are removed, the fuel tank must be drained to a level below the float sender.

Slowly open the fuel tank cap assembly in order to release the pressure in the fuel tank. Remove pipe plug (1) from the bottom of the fuel tank. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank to a level below the float sender. Use a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the fuel tank is 700 L (185 US gal).
Apply Tooling (A) on pipe plug (1). Install pipe plug (1) to the bottom of the fuel tank.

Disconnect harness assembly (2).

Remove bolt (3), and clip (4).

Pull float sender harness assembly (5) outward until harness assembly (6) exits the fuel tank.
Disconnect float sender harness assembly (5) from harness assembly (6). Remove grommet (7).
Remove two pan head screws (8) and the dial sensor.

Put identification on float sender (9) for installation purposes. Remove four machine screws (10). Carefully remove float sender (9) from the fuel tank.
Remove rectangular seal (11) from float sender (9). Installation Procedure
Verify that all of the components of the fuel level sensor are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.
Inspect all components for wear and replace the components, if necessary.
Lubricate all of the seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install rectangular seal (11) into float sender (9).

Install float sender (9) in the fuel tank. Be sure that the float sender is installed in the original position. Install four machine screws (10) that hold the float sender to the fuel tank.
Position the dial sensor onto float sender (10). Install two pan head screws (8).
Install grommet (7). Connect float sender harness assembly (5) to harness assembly (6).

Insert float sender harness assembly (5), and harness assembly (6) in the fuel tank, as shown.

Install clip (4), and bolt (3).

Connect harness assembly (2).
