Rear of the torque converter (1) Transmission charge section (2) Torque converter section (3) Scavenge sectionThe gear pump for the power train has three sections:
Charge pump section for the transmission (1)
Charge pump section for the torque converter (2)
Scavenge pump section for the torque converter (3) The pumps are driven by a gear on the torque converter.The scavenge section for the torque converter (3) is located on the drive end. This pump section pulls oil from the transmission housing. The oil flows through a scavenge screen and the oil flow is then returned to the scavenge section of the torque converter.The other two pump sections get oil from the scavenge section of the torque converter.The transmission charge section (1) sends oil through one of the oil filters and then the oil is split. Some of the oil goes to the transmission hydraulic control and the rest of the oil goes to the modulating valve for the torque converter.The torque converter section (2) sends through the other power train oil filter. The oil then travels to the inlet relief valve for the torque converter, and to the torque converter.
