Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Turn the fuel supply valve to the OFF position.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove bolts (2) and bolts (3). Remove elbow (4) from engine oil pump (1).

Disconnect harness assemblies (7). Remove bolts (5) and bracket assembly (6).

Attach Tooling (A) onto engine (10). The weight of engine (10) is approximately 10343 kg (22802 lb).
Install suitable cribbing under oil pan (9). The weight of oil pan (9) is approximately 567 kg (1250 lb). Remove bolts (8) on all sides of engine oil pan (9).

Raise engine (10) from engine oil pan (9).

Position the engine on Tooling (B).

Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device onto engine oil pan (9). The weight of engine oil pan (9) is approximately 567 kg (1250 lb). Apply slight lifting tension on engine oil pan (9). Remove engine oil pan (9). Installation Procedure
Install engine oil pan (9) in the reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (D) to the puzzle joints and the T joints on the gasket. Apply between the cylinder block face, the front housing, and the rear housing.
Tighten nuts (3) to a torque of 47 3 N m (35 2 lb ft).
