Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Park the machine on a flat, level surface. Lower the bucket to the ground. Chock the wheels in order to keep the machine from rolling when the drive shaft is removed.

Support center drive shaft (3). Remove bolts (1) and straps (2) from each end of center drive shaft (3) .
Use two persons in order to carefully remove center drive shaft (3). The weight of the center drive shaft is approximately 32 kg (71 lb).Installation Procedure
When the center drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the front and rear drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint group, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned.
Whenever servicing a drive shaft, replace the straps and bolts with new parts. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque by using an X pattern in order to ensure that all components fit correctly and that no gaps are present. Tighten the bolts a second time to the specified torque by using the same X pattern in order to ensure the correct torque has been reached.

Use two persons in order to carefully install center drive shaft (3). The weight of the center drive shaft is approximately 32 kg (71 lb).
Support center drive shaft (3). Install new straps (2) and new bolts (1) on each end of center drive shaft (3). The torque for bolts (1) is 150 15 N m (110 11 lb ft).
Lubricate the center drive shaft. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
