(1) Brake (2) Bearing (3) Bearing (4) Hub (5) Planetary carrier (6) Ring gear (7) Planetary gears (8) Planetary gears (9) Planetary carrier (10) Coupler (11) Spindle housing (12) Wheel (13) Sun gear (14) Sun gear (15) Axle ShaftEach of the two final drives has the same components. A final drive causes the speed reduction in the power train and the torque increase in the power train.Spindle housing (11) is fastened to the axle housing. Hub (4) is splined to spindle housing (11) and to planetary carrier (5). Spindle housing (11), hub (4), and planetary carrier (5) are stationary.Axle shaft (15) is connected to the wheel motor by a splined coupler (10). Coupler (10) is splined to the motor output shaft. Coupler (10) is splined to the motor output shaft. Axle shaft (15) is connected to the final drive through splines on sun gear (14). Sun gear (14) is engaged with planetary gears (8). Planetary gears (8) are held in planetary carrier (9). Planetary gears (8) are engaged with ring gear (6). Planetary carrier (9) is connected to sun gear (13) with splines. Sun gear (13) is engaged with planetary gears (7). Planetary gears (7) are held in planetary carrier (5). Planetary gears (7) engage ring gear (6). Ring gear (6) is bolted to wheel (12) .Power from the electric drive motor is transmitted through the coupler. The coupler then turns the axle shaft. The axle shaft turns sun gear (14). Sun gear (14) turns planetary gears (8). Planetary gears (8) move around the inside of ring gear (6). This motion causes planetary carrier (9) to rotate. Planetary carrier (9) causes sun gear (13) to rotate. Sun gear (13) causes rotation of planetary gears (7). The rotating planetary gears (7) cause ring gear (6) to rotate. Ring gear (6) causes the wheel to rotate. The final drives receive lubrication by the rotation of the planetary gears in oil and through lubrication lines that are directed at a set location. Each final drive has a separate oil supply. No oil passes between both the right hand and left hand final drive.
