The parking brake is applied by spring force and released by pressurized pilot oil.When left hand implement control (1) is activated, the pressurized pilot oil is sent to one end of swing control valve (5) in order to activate the swing function. Swing pilot oil passes through the shuttle network and opens swing parking brake pressure switch (11). Opening swing parking brake pressure switch (11) provides an input signal to swing brake control (6) .Swing parking brake control sends a signal through two ladder position switches (7). If both ladders are in the UP position, the ladder position switches are closed and the signal energizes swing parking brake solenoid valve (8). Energizing swing parking brake solenoid valve (8) sends pilot system pressurized oil to release swing parking brakes (2). If either of the ladders are in the DOWN position, the ladder position switch circuit is open and swing parking brake solenoid valve (8) remains de-energized. When swing parking brake solenoid valve (8) remains de-energized swing parking brakes (2) remain engaged.Swing pilot pressurized oil in the shuttle network also opens Automatic Engine Speed Control (AESC) pressure switch (12) which signals engine control module (8) that the swing function is requested. Engine control module (8) will increase the engine speed to the throttle dial setting when the engine speed is at the 1350 rpm AESC speed.

With the loss of swing pilot oil to the pilot resolver shuttle valve (13), the AESC pressure switch closes and the swing brake pressure switch closes. Swing brake control (6) times eight seconds then de-energizes swing parking brake solenoid valve (8). Swing parking brake solenoid valve (8) returns to a closed position which blocks pilot oil to swing parking brakes (2) and vents swing parking brakes (2) to the tank. Venting swing parking brakes (2) allows the swing parking brake springs (22) to apply the swing parking brake.When the swing pilot controls, boom pilot controls, stick pilot controls, or bucket pilot controls are in the NEUTRAL position, the swing parking brake is applied.
